Let me confess One Thing. I myself place my life long profession as a DESIGNER!!
A designer who artworks for creating better social system, technology system or global system which can contribute to theglobal GDP's ONE% increase. Do you believe a design of light bulb has increased the economic value as well as social value of the world by more than one percentage? I believe.Do you agree a design of PC also has played the role to the same degree what paper has done for us? For all of us? I almost agree. How much would you guess that our previous generation of social system designers- capitalism, socialism whatever - have generated value for the world? You feel it.
History of world-shaking DESIGNers dawns on me as life long heroes. And I hereby vows to follow them. With Passion. With Energy. With Will. With Mission. With Dream. A model of world what I choose to impact on changing the world for promoting better happiness, mutual understandings, great wealth of economy and green environment that can contribute to increase the world GDP by ONE%.
How can I do that? Half the way of whole can be said done when I paraphrase a sentence 'how canIdo that' to 'how canWe do that.'Friends, Let's go together!!
Here I am in IBM for that reason. We shape the world by designing data, information, knowledge and communication infrastructure!!! I believe this is a company not only created PC but also taking further and further leap for designing cutting edge systems for the world's better information system. I believe this company has generated more than ONE% of global value effect. I want to learn What IBM do. Why IBM really has to be. Where IBM is going to. How IBM is doing. Who I can go with along the way.
The biggest value pie is there. But that's not enough. Since I work for IBM. And that means nobody but me and my colleagues have indisputable potential to understand the fundamentals of IBM better than anyone else. As I work in here, therefore, I need to be able to thin slice what value is being delivered. How the value is being generated. They should be measured so that I can count them on to the ONE% balance account.
I support DY's idea on exploiting What Value we are delivering by industry. My focus on here is What Value, eventually had generated at the point of system operation. And I wish to extend my support to study IBM's global methodology, process and its culture what our previous ancestors have established.
Innovation w/o value is only about technology. But that's useless.
Value w/o innovation perhaps can cover cost down, price cut and increase of utility which may short of industrial enhancement.
I hope to design a system that covers both of them. Innovation & Value.
